Pastoral Communication: Investigating the Field |
More than a dozen priests, religious and lay people from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Philippines attended the three-day workshop on Pastoral Communication: Investigating the Field from May 5 to 7, 2013.
Resource person Franz-Josef Eilers, svd has led the participants to an in-depth look of the field of study and pastoral activity. He stressed that pastoral communication is concerned less about technical means, than with forming a communicative spirituality reflecting the heart of the Good Shepherd.
In the end, the participants resolved to foster and promote “prayer and contemplation” so that all in ministry would communicate according to the communicative attitude and disposition of Jesus Christ. A repeat of this workshop is foreseen for August 2013. The exact dates will be communicated later. |

Scholarship Fund for Communication Studies Available |
The Pontifical Council for Social Communications, donor organizations and CAMECO have joined forces to establish a Scholarship Fund which would aim to support the formation of future leaders in the field of communications, and to build up local capacity to provide for future formation in Africa and Asia (later on, we hope to also include Latin America). The objectives are to:
1. Qualify Africans and Asians who will have the capacity to provide proper formation for future Church communicators in local training institutes, communication (and theology) faculties and major seminaries;
2. Broaden the base of qualified priests, deacons, religious and lay people who are competent to further develop the communication ministry of the local Churches. We are especially interested in developing potential future national or regional communication coordinators.
